Despite the fact that only a few days remain until the elections, the Kazakhstan Green Party BAYTAQ continues its election campaign. Party representatives and candidates meet with residents of different regions and discuss current issues.
In Pavlodar Region, one of the country’s major industrial regions, the election campaign is also in full swing. The chairman of the regional branch, Duman Tokashev, visited the Maysky and Akkulinsky districts, where he met with local residents.
Maysky District is one of the regions whose territory falls within the zone of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. There are 285.9 thousand hectares of land here that belong to the territory of the former test site. In particular, the settlements of the Akzhar and Maldar rural districts are located in the zone with the highest level of radiation danger. Therefore, environmental safety issues remain especially relevant here.
At meetings with party representatives, residents raised a number of issues related to radiation safety. These included the need for constant and transparent monitoring of the radiation situation, studies of soil and water conditions, as well as food safety. Residents also spoke about the need to identify and restore contaminated areas and to openly inform the public about the results of radiation monitoring.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed infrastructure development, support for rural areas, and improving the quality of life for the population.
BAYTAQ advocates open environmental monitoring, protection of residents’ health, and the creation of safe living conditions in the regions.
Party representatives who visited villages and districts placed campaign materials in designated areas and distributed them among residents. They called on citizens to take an active part in the Kurultai elections, which will take place on August 23, and to make their choice.
