Presidential adviser Kanat Bozumbayev said at the International Forum on Water Technologies and Resources that the issue of restoring one of the country’s foundational universities, which will specialize exclusively in water resources issues, is being considered. In particular, the re-establishment of the Zhambyl Hydromelioration Institute, which existed until 1998.
“Unfortunately, our scientific research in the water sector lags far behind foreign research. Right now, more than ever, the industry needs high-quality personnel. And we need to revise the approaches and standards of education in training specialists for the water sector. The issue of restoring one of our country’s foundational universities, purely specialized in water topics, is being considered,” Bozumbayev said.
