One of the goals of the Kazakhstan Green Party “Baitaq” is the protection of the environment. The party constantly takes part in numerous public hearings on the environmental impact of all major environmental polluters and expresses expert opinions.
The Green Party “Baitaq” has repeatedly pointed out violations by JSC SD “ArcelorMittal Temirtau,” and as a result of inspections, the authorized state body imposed damages for air pollution in the billions of tenge.
We carried out some project calculations, the results of which show underreported emissions into the air. For just one steelmaking process at pollution source No. 6141, the aeration lantern of the converter shop, JSC SD “AMT” underpaid more than 50 million tenge in environmental emission taxes to the regional budget for 2023.
Since the permit documents were issued without taking public comments into account, and also contain numerous mathematical errors and shortcomings in the project documentation that contradict the requirements of environmental legislation, all permit documents are subject to being recognized as unlawful and invalid from the moment of their issuance through court proceedings.
