Roundtable “Kazakhstan’s Green Future”

A roundtable titled “Kazakhstan’s Green Future” was held at the Sherkhan Murtaza Center for Spirituality and History in Taraz. The event was organized by the Zhambyl regional branch of the BAYTAQ Green Party. Public activists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, the environmental community, and journalists took part in the discussion.

During the meeting, the pressing environmental problems of the Zhambyl region were identified and specific ways to solve them were discussed. Participants raised issues of sorting and effective management of solid household waste, the development of the “Green Belt of Central Asia,” greening of settlements, and environmental reclamation.

Particular attention was paid to possible environmental risks associated with the accumulation of phosphogypsum. The participants discussed in detail the expansion of the sanitary protection zone, compliance with its requirements, and ensuring environmental safety.

The roundtable participants did not limit themselves to discussing environmental problems. They considered issues of expanding green areas, restoring degraded lands, improving the waste management system, and protecting public health, noting the need for concrete steps in these areas.
