IV Conference of the “Baitaq” Green Party Held in Akmola Region

September 5, 2025

At the beginning of autumn, an important event dedicated to environmental issues took place in the Akmola region. In Kokshetau, the IV Conference of the Akmola Regional Branch of the “Baitaq” Green Party of Kazakhstan was held. The meeting, aimed at defining the country’s green development priorities, was attended by Party Chairman Azamathan Amirtayev, who outlined the key directions for the upcoming period.

During the conference, a new leadership structure was elected, and the regional branch of the party was fully renewed. Asylbek Bayazhuma was elected Chairman of the Akmola regional branch. In addition, the Political Council, Executive Secretariat, and Audit Commission were formed, giving new impetus to the party’s activities in the region.

The agenda of the conference was not limited to organizational matters. The participants discussed the most pressing environmental challenges. In particular, public discontent was voiced regarding the concentration of municipal solid waste from Astana in the Akmola region. Party Chairman Azamathan Amirtayev emphasized:
“All household waste from the outskirts of Astana is being transferred to the Akmola region. At the same time, the financial payments go to the capital’s budget, while the burden falls on Akmola. Therefore, we must establish an agglomeration project office between Astana and Akmola to ensure fair decision-making.”

The conference also addressed the ecological state of Lake Kopa in central Kokshetau, the need to clean up waste in the Burabay resort area, and the disposal of medical waste from Astana’s healthcare facilities. These issues were highlighted as being of national importance, not just regional.

In his speech, Azamathan Amirtayev stressed the importance of public involvement in implementing ecological initiatives:
“Sometimes even purely environmental projects face resistance. Therefore, we must intensify awareness campaigns and support these constructive steps. Protecting nature is our common responsibility.”

It should be noted that earlier, the “Baitaq” Party had established an agglomeration office between the city of Almaty and Almaty region. This successful experience is now planned to be implemented between Akmola and Astana, which will help resolve shared regional issues more effectively.

The conference was attended by party activists, regional delegates, environmental experts, youth organizations, representatives of the intelligentsia, and local veterans. During the event, the activities of School-Lyceum No. 13 “ECOS” were presented, highlighting the importance of environmental education for the younger generation.

Thus, the IV Conference of the “Baitaq” Green Party in Akmola became an important milestone in revitalizing the region’s green agenda and reaffirmed that the protection of nature is a shared responsibility of the entire society.
