On November 2, 2023, the Chairman of the Green Party “Baytak” Azamatkhan Amirtayev and the Chief of Staff of the Party Bekbergen Kerey took part in a seminar on the development of national objectives for the conservation of biodiversity in Kazakhstan, which was also attended by representatives of central government bodies, NGOs, scientific organizations, national companies and etc. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan (UNDP), is implementing the project “Global Biodiversity Framework: Supporting Early Actions”. As noted by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Nysanbaev, in his welcoming speech, the goal of the Project is to accelerate the preparation and early actions for the implementation in Kazakhstan of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which was adopted in 2022 at the 15th Conference of the Parties Convention on Biodiversity. The main problematic issue today is the lack of a strategic program document on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in the long term and a medium-term program for the development of a network of protected areas, management of flora and fauna, as well as the development of forestry. “The project involves supporting the countries party to the Convention on Biodiversity in the implementation of country obligations to develop/update and implement national strategic objectives in the field of biodiversity, in accordance with the 23 global objectives of the Framework,” said Minister E. Nysanbaev. The main goal of this event is to exchange expert opinions and knowledge, identifying priority tasks in the field of biodiversity conservation. As part of this seminar, the Chairman of the Green Party “Baytak” A. Amirtayev met with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Nysanbayev and the UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan Katarzhina Vaviernia, where a number of issues on joint work in this direction were discussed.
